This can either be {compound fracture} or {simple fracture} & is usually due to a fall, or a direct blow or a twisting force on the forearm. Immobilized by placing generous pad between chest & affected arm, then bandaging arm to chest. Transfer to hospital.

In children, fracture of radius & ulna is usually caused by a fall on an outstretched arm & kink in bone can be seen on {X-ray}. Arm can be supported by sling. Transfer to hospital where a {plaster cast} is applied. Usually correction is not required. Bone heals within 3 weeks & after 6-12mths, bone re-models so old fracture site cannot be seen.
